Sign up for a KCPL library card during the month of September to get access to everything the library offers, plus an entry into fantastic Library Card Sign-Up Month raffles! If you already have a library card and want to enter the raffle, bring a friend to sign up for a card and you can both enter the raffle!

SIGNING UP FOR A LIBRARY CARD IS EASY!
A library card is free for Maryland residents, including current Washington College students.
Non-residents can get a card for a $10 annual fee.

To apply, you will need:

• Current valid photo ID
• Proof of current address or documentation of no fixed address
• If under 18, a parent or guardian must co-sign.

You can sign up in person at any KCPL location or online.

A KCPL library card gives you access to so much, including:

• books, audiobooks, and graphic novels
• DVDs and streaming videos
• video games, board games, STEM kits, and book discussion kits
• ebooks and audiobooks
• online classes and homework help

Your Questions Answered

Q: What if I already have a library card? Can I participate?
A: Yes! If you are a current cardholder, you can enter the raffle by bringing a friend to sign up for a card. When the friend gets a library card, you can both enter the raffle.

Q: Do I have to be present to refer my friend to the library and enter the raffle?
A: No. Your friend can write down your name and we will add you both to the raffle. The friend must register in-person to add a referral; online card registration does not have this option.

Q: What if I sign up for a card online?
A: If you register online, you will automatically be entered into the raffle. If you win and don’t want the prize, we will pass it to the next winner.

Q: How fantastic are the raffle prizes?
A: Pretty fantastic! We have four raffles, each for a different age group, with the following prizes:

• 0-5: Little Tikes Perfect Fit 4-in-1 Trike Bike
• 6-12: Marble Genius Marble Rails Extreme Set
• 13-17: Huffy 24” Rock Creek Mountain Bike & Schwinn Helmet
• 18+: AIRROBO Robot Vacuum Cleaner

Q: Can I choose my desired age group? For example: Can my 10-year-old enter the teen raffle?
A: No. You will be entered into the raffle corresponding with your age.

Q: But I am eight-TEEN and I need the bike, not a vacuum.
A: If you are 18 or 19, you are the exception. Since you are in a crossover age group, you can opt into the teen or the adult raffle.

Q: What if I don’t want to be in the raffle?
A: No worries! If you don't fill out the raffle ticket, you won't be entered into the raffle. If you register online, you will be entered, but can decline the prize if you happen to win.

Q: I came to sign up and it turns out I already have an old, expired account that I forgot about. Can I renew and be entered into the raffle?
A: Yes! Welcome back to the library.
