Podcasting 101: How to Use the Gear, Tell the Story, and Share with the World In-Person
With the ability to reach audiences who are interested in specific topics all over the world, podcasting has become a huge part of today's media. Local media professionals Justinian Dispenza (Andover Media) and Aaron Maloney (Blue Room Media) will guide you through the steps of how to get started on your podcasting journey.
Filled with humor and lots of interaction, this 2-hour workshop will teach you about the equipment that's available in KCPL's Creator Studio Podcasting Kit, how to set up a podcasting studio in any location, dos and don'ts for starting a podcast, how to best light and set up your smartphone to film your podcast, a basic guide on editing the footage and audio, and how to upload and share your podcast with your audiences across the internet.
You'll have a chance to explore the contents of the Creator Studio Podcasting Kit, which is now available as part of KCPL's Library of Things!
Bring your smart phone (if you have one), a device or notebook to take notes, your questions, and a brief outline of your podcast idea (if you have one).
If you don't yet have a podcast topic or if you're curious to learn about the kit for voice over or other audio work, that's fine! We'll have a list of topics for you to pick from for the exercises in the workshop.
Ages 18+
Teens (14+) are also welcome.
Registration required.
