The Maryland DCDL is hosting "Celebrating Deaf Cultures at Maryland DCDL Through Arts, History, and Literature" on Zoom. We will celebrate the new website which coincides with International Week of the Deaf. Here are some details about the program:

Leah Katz Hernandez, former receptionist from the White House under President Obama's administration, is our keynote speaker. She's one of the contributing authors of "West Wingers: Stories from the Dream Chasers, Change Makers, and Hope Creators Inside the Obama White House."

In addition to Maryland State Librarian Irene Padilla and MCPL Director Anita Vassallo, our special guest presenters include:
  • Savannah Dahan of Savvy ASL (whose videos have gone viral) will sign a song,
  • Fred Beam of Sunshine 2.0 will sign in ASL a poetry he wrote,
  • Deaf Author Brian Greenwald will say a few words on Deaf History and its significance
  • Sofia Seitchik will give a pitch on joining the Friends group to support Maryland DCDL
This event is hosted by Maryland DCDL in a partnership with the Governor's Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Maryland State Library, Howard County Association of the Deaf, and Maryland Association of the Deaf.
